A lot of people say that John McCain should pick Mitt Romney as his running mate. I
disagree. As a Michigan native I can tell you that Romney is not a game changer. His father was Michigan governor in the late 60's and early 70's, but
the family name never helped his kids. The other son, Scott, could not win the Republican nomination for State Attorney General and ex-daughter in law Romney
lost badly when she ran for the senate. Romney will not HURT the ticket, but I would think the people he appeals to most are going to vote for McCain.
Tim Pawlenty is often mentioned, but he is not even well liked in his home state of Minnesota. The only reason he was re-elected in 2006 was because his Democratic opponent made some incredibly stupid remarks just before Election Day. Pawlenty just barely squeaked by.
Stepping away from my own partisanship, if I were on McCain's team, I would tell him that Senator Kaye Baily Hutchusn of Texas would be the game changer. She is a moderately conservative senator, sits on the Armed Services Committee and would appeal very well to moderate women who may not be fully comfortable with Obama. Any other names?
